Linkedin Connections

Here is a tip from someone who networks alot.  I don’t ever send out blanket invitations to connect.  I invite only people I see share common interests.  I always send personal invitations and not just the blanket “Please add me to your professional network”  When you reply with the “I don’t know you” after an invitation is sent, it really is damaging.  I have only had that twice now with my close to 200 connections I have established.  I am not looking for high connection numbers as if this would something special to me and my company.  Linkedin was designed to connect with people who are sincere about connecting.  If you are not really interested in connecting and you see someone who invites you to connect that is genuine and is linked to key people in the industry, just hit ignore next time instead of “I don’t know you”

That’s my 2 cents for today.
